This group covers the non-Asian restaurants, cafes, bars and food businesses that also appear in a mixed-cuisine food scene, including American diners, pizza, Mexican food, burgers, steakhouses and bakeries. Standard US restaurant norms apply: lunch and dinner service with a quieter stretch between, cards and tap-to-pay accepted almost everywhere, and a tip of 15-20% customary for table service. Fast food and quick-service counters expect payment up front and tipping is optional. Bars check ID for anyone who looks under 30, and the drinking age is 21 nationwide. Many restaurants in this group take reservations online through third-party platforms, while casual and fast-food spots are walk-in only. Sales tax is added at the register on top of the menu price and varies by city and state, so the final total is usually a few percent higher than the posted prices suggest.

Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, cafevenetia.com.

Palo Alto is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around Palo Alto is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Cafe Venetia is a gem for anyone looking to slow down and enjoy a proper coffee experience. It is conveniently located in downtown Palo Alto. The atmosphere is quintessential European cafe culture, with inviting outdoor seating illuminated by string lights that make the patio feel warm and magical at night. The drinks are crafted with care. My macchiatone was topped with lovely espresso and formed milk art and a rich rim of cocoa, and delighted with the beautiful cup and floral stirrer both are made in Italy. Whether you are grabbing a quick espresso or sitting outside on the patio to people-watch and unwind, this spot offers a cozy escape. Highly recommended.

One of my favorite coffee spots in Palo Alto! The atmosphere is cozy and has a charming European feel that makes it a great place to slow down and relax. The tiramisu is my favorite, definitely worth trying. I love stopping by after dinner for dessert and a good cup of coffee. Always a great experience!

The cafe Venetia is a nice place to stop for a coffee and pastery in University avenue Palo Alto. They have a good coffe but also other drinks. They also serve pastery and chocolate. When the weather is good sitting outside is pretty relaxing.

Located on University Avenue in Palo Alto, this cafΓ© sits right next to a wine bar β€” two separate entrances side by side. If you’re there for coffee, make sure to go into the cafΓ© section. I stopped by in the afternoon for a coffee and some quiet time. It wasn’t too crowded, so I grabbed a seat with my laptop. There was just one barista managing things. Since I was a bit hungry, I ordered an open-faced sandwich β€” a slice of bread topped with mortadella, pesto, and cheese. It had a very Italian feel and tasted fresh and fairly good quality. For coffee, I tried a freddo with double espresso and it was goodβ€” strong, smooth, and with a good kick. I also picked up a chocolate tart to have later in the evening. Even hours later, it still tasted fresh. The chocolate was smooth and rich, almost mousse-like, set in a crisp crust β€” really well done. By the time I visited, the selection was already limited, which suggests they sell out quickly. If you go earlier in the day, you’ll probably find a much wider range of options. Overall, a great spot for quality coffee and well-made baked goods.

A small moment of Italy in Palo Alto. The espresso was rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced β€” exactly how it should be. The atmosphere feels cozy and authentic, and even a simple cup of coffee becomes a little ritual here. If you appreciate real Italian espresso and a relaxed European vibe, this place is worth stopping by. β˜•
